Amirluq(Pronounced ['a.miʁ.luq], Transcribed into the Central Earth Kingdom common language, 啊覓孺 Amiru) is a 14 year old girl of mixed Air Nomad and Northern Water Tribe ancestry. Her Air Nomad ancestors, fleeing the lands of the Western Air Temple due to the air nomad genocide in 0 AG, took up with a Northern Water Tribe (Siqupsiqqat, specifically) sailing ship as kaizhai. As they cared for their Air Nomad beliefs but were not incredibly devout, they relaxed their vegetarianism to pescetarianism and adopted the external dress and ways of their new Water Tribe colleagues. They also intermarried with them, and as a consequence Amirluq is 5/8ths ethnic Air Nomad and 3/8ths ethnic Northern Water Tribeswoman. She is a middle child.

She grew up on one of her extended family's sailing ships, which was involved in trading, shipping and fishing activities in the Northern Sea, visiting far Northern ports of the Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation colonies (until the outbreak of war between the Fire Nation and the Southern Water Tribe) and the settlements along the Northern Water Tribe coastlands.

Her family was preserving secret airbending traditions, but Amirluq was found to be a talented waterbender at a young age. Among non-urban Northern Water Tribe people, the gender role distinctions pertaining to bending are looser than with urban people, with only the most exclusively combat-oriented waterbending being reserved to men, and only high-level healing bending being reserved to women. Accordingly, she had a relatively broad training in waterbending within the constraints of her environment.

She has continued working in the family business, with her bending being valuable to it.

She is literate in the common Earth Kingdom Language, with the focus of her literacy being commercial matters of relevance to her family's business, contracts and accounting. She is also literate in the script used by the religious, cultural and martial arts literature of the Air Nomad Religion. In addition to the common Earth Kingdom Language, she speaks the Northern dialect of the Water Tribe language, and has limited speaking/understanding proficiency in the Air Nomad Language.

Pet: TBD if any

She is proficient with using a knife.

It can probably be fairly safely assumed that the other PCs who spent significant time in the cell with her prior to the start of the campaign know the basic details here except for anything relating to her Air Nomad heritage, the airbenders in her family group, the Air Nomad practices they still retain, etc. (Though also excluding things that she wouldn't try to hide but that just wouldn't have happened to come up in conversation -- though I'm not sure what might or might not be on that list.) She's ostensibly an ordinary Water Tribe member.

on the design of the outfit in the page picture:
"(Also, when I noticed that that _was_ a side flap instead of the side of a back-arc section, I pondered trying to change it to be the latter, or what it might be, and I _think_ I came up for a plausible rough design for the outfit that saved me some more pixel-poking. Layers (clothing, not Photoshop; I didn't go _that_ far :D), from inside to outside:
1: Underwear, socks
2: Trousers, boots
3: Dress (short enough to not unduly impede mobility or catch on things shipboard and featuring side pockets)
4: Tunic (with separate side flaps at the bottom to simultaneously ease access to and increase protection of the dress's side pockets), bracers (for defense if needed and... handling rope, maybe?)
5: Sash
That seem reasonable?)"
