Placeholder page for Rachel's character

<Rachel> Lugo Sergei is my tentative name for my character. She/They grew up in a Mosuo-like matriarchal culture separated and culturally distinct from most of the airbending monasteries

Her/They's village is located deep in the forest in the heart of fire-bending territories, but because most other airbenders (and most other people) didn't know about them, they were pretty much left to their own devises
Essentially, some air nomad years ago came to the village, married in, converted everyone to be buddist, but the rest of the air folks know nothing about it

<Rachel> Essentially. Some folks can manage smoke bending along side airbending 
<Rachel> but mainly can bend air or fire

Bryce> Meaning that, according to the interpretation currently on the wiki, their benders would have some chance of being firebenders and some would be airbenders.
<Rachel> yup. As kids some have bits of both, but develop one by adulthood
<Bryce> Interesting.
<Rachel> (bits being smoke only, no fire if airbenders, can make fire shapes but not really airbend if firebenders)
<Rachel> yup. kind of shades of both but not truly both. brb

<Bryce> Rachel, okay, and how old is Sergei?

<Rachel> her tribe knows what's happening but stays hidden from firelord's knowledge
<Bryce> I can think of a fairly obvious reason why Sergei would want to take down the Fire Lord and would join up with an effort to find the Avatar, though the Fire Nation finding their hidden village is somewhat cliche.
<Bryce> (not that I object to a single cliche here and there, but maybe you have a better idea.)
<Rachel> they haven't. her brother trades in a local market town and was taken by soldiers and forced to join the army
<Rachel> Sergei wants to get him back
<Bryce> That's fine, but it sounds like they'd need an additional hook to want to find / train the Avatar.
<Bryce> Jelle, can you tell me more about this escaping an arranged marriage plot?
<Rachel> she found her bro, turns out he went willingly, because he believes the firelord propaganda. He didn't snitch on their settlement though. But he was lost in battle shortly after she found him. Sergie wants revenge

<Bryce> Interesting, okay, that could work
<Rachel> She's wants to help the Avatar destroy the firelord. Also she's not convinced the air nomads could airbend worth shit. they learn different techniques in the forest
