The Winged Lemur's face and body are similar to the Jungle Lemu, but the animals are quite distinct, as the Winged Lemur has actual batlike wings and is capable of sustained flight, whereas the Lemu is only able to glide using its patagium.

A winged lemur is flying primate-like creature native to the lands of the Southern Air Temple. They are endangered in their native territory due to habitat destruction after the air nomad genocide, but populations are starting to recover. They were an introduced species on the Celadon Archipelago, but are probably extinct there as a result of the genocide. They were introduced to some of the Outward Lands of the Earth Kingdom long ago, and populations there still continue today.
