<Jelle> Well, her family are nobles, and just high enough to be allowed into the Fire Lord's court to gawk and fawn over how awesome he and his family are, and thus act as social climbers.

<Jelle> Well, the idea is that she's escaping an arranged marriage, so it depends on the legal age in the Fire Nation. Though 16-17ish is my expectation.


<Bryce> Jelle, can you tell me more about this escaping an arranged marriage plot?
<Bryce> Interesting, okay, that could work
<Jelle> Well, her parents think that marrying their only daughter to a general in the Firelord's staff will help them get noticed. Suzin thinks the general's son is an unimaginative, pugnacious dullard, and always had a misschievious streak despite being polite.


Jelle> Her balloon ends up crashing with her being saved by the Southern Water Tribe. When she hears of the Avatar, she sees tagging along as a way to stay ahead of any Fire Nation goons that might ship her off home, and the best chance that something might change inside the nation, and this worth helping.
