The Black Mountains are a mountain range in mainland [[Ponyland]], which separate the province of [[Grundleland]] from [[Dream Valley]] in [[Eastern Ponyland]]. Among the mountains is [[Mount Gloom]], a volcano legendarily associated with the lair of the Great Witch [[Hydia]], the bane of the [[Grundles]] and mistress of the [[Smooze]], in mythology. The mountains are reportedly regarded with superstitious fear by Ponylanders even today, variously said to be haunted by the ghost of Hydia, [[dragons]], or fallen grundles cursed to eternal undeath. If any of these unlikely claims are true, reliable news of it has not reached the Isle of Yore as of the present time.
