The climate of the Dusts is usually dry, with occasional precipitation, mostly at higher elevations during the relative wet season. (The Dusty Mountains receive snow on most years, sometimes a substantial amount.) Although the Isle of Yore has detectable seasons, there is little temperature variation, owing to its equatorial location. Its “wet season,” such as it is, runs from Seeds to Harvesting. Virga is more common than proper rain in some regions. The Eastern Dusts get slightly more rain than the Western ones. In any case, natural precipitation is not sufficient to sustain productive agriculture anywhere in the Dusts, but it is marginally sufficient in some parts of the northern Isle of Yore. The Dusts are usually sunny and warm during the day, and cold at night. Sunny weather still predominates through the mild winter. Weatherponies are limited by inadequate feedstocks of natural clouds for their activities. Supplemental water must usually be obtained from the fossil aquifer. The theft of natural clouds by cloud pirates has been a persistent issue in the Dusts.
