An arguably unethical activity where pegasus ponies divert naturally occurring clouds from their course approaching a settlement or farmland and direct them to another, or directly collect them and harvest their water. This differs from perfectly legitimate cloudherding, which involves the collection of clouds not likely to rain on cultivated land or cisterns.
- Various settlements have attempted to suppress cloud piracy with varying success, protecting clouds approaching the town itself or also including clouds approaching the associated countryside. There are rarely any effective laws involved, as no one can realistically claim jurisdiction over clouds far from any settlement, but certain associated activities have been banned by some towns in an effort to make the operations of cloud pirates more difficult.
