A town, founded in 3210 AE and inhabited mainly by pegasi. About 200km northwest of Trenchtown, it is surrounded on all sides by a lowland growth of the crystal forest. Its form of government is oligarchic and clan-based, and it espouses an ideology of pegasus-supremacism, although it does not advocate violence against other pony types. It is widely thought to harbor, and indeed cater to, cloud pirates and other disreputable persons. Reliable economic information is not available, but the settlement appears to be serviced agriculturally by an ancillary Earth Pony village on the plateau above Crystal Cliffs. The Prince of Crystal Cliffs is Ice Fog.
In PRPG3
With the return of regular and plentiful rain clouds, Crystal Cliffs ceased to be a hub of weather piracy. Brought under the control of Harmonia as an SAR, it was abandoned and repopulated on and off for decades by pegasi who moved there temporarily for various reasons but usually didn’t stay due to the area's isolation.
In the 3500s, a small permanent settlement established itself, composed of mixed pegasi and earth ponies working together to lead what they consider to be an idyllic agrarian way of life. They intermarry across type by tradition and several earth-pegasi are said to live on the island. Their agricultural practices rely heavily on magico-mechanical automation to relieve the working population of most strenuous physical labor and allow them plentiful leisure time for pursuits of personal improvement and accomplishment. Very few unicorns live on Crystal Cliffs to provide services, so some of the inhabitants have emerged as unusually skilled earth pony and pegasus mages.
