A means of transportation serving a portion of the Eastern Dusts with mail, cargo and passenger service. It uses pre-Catastrophic locomotives, modified into condensing locomotives using contemporary fuels, and cars. Fuel costs and availability have been a limitation on the availability of services. Of the six locomotives used by the railroad, two are oil-fueled (using either trench whale oil or vegetable oil) and the others are powered by chipped and compressed dried scrubbrush and agricultural wastes. Expanding the service to Irongate and perhaps farther West is sometimes contemplated. It is thought that plans to service Irongate have been stalled for political reasons.

The Docktown Railroad is a commercial operation owned by businessponies in Docktown. Passenger ticket prices are fairly high, but, if one has the money, they are almost always available right up to the time of the train’s departure. The railroad accepts only Docktown Bits, but independent money changers are present at most stations.
