The Dusts are a region of tropical [[Equus]], located on (and in modern times often identified with) the [[Isle of Yore]]. They are characterized by their relatively arid climate and propensity for dust storms blowing across the desert hills and dry seabeds that dominate their terrain. The Dusts are marginally suitable for agriculture with irrigation, and sustain a population of [[Little Pony|ponies]] and other creatures. 

The former seabed contains [[Abyss|deep trenches]]. [[Crystal Forest]] growth is abundant in the Dusts, owing to the suitable climate and abundant sunshine. The [[Western Dusts]] have several notable settlements including the [[Edge]], [[Trenchtown]], and a [[Daverwood|Fungus Gnome village]] predating the [[Catastrophe]]. The [[Eastern Dusts]] are more densely populated and civilized. The Eastern and Western dusts are separated by the [[Dusty Mountains]], which are overgrown by Crystal Forest and somewhat difficult to pass overland, although a [[Dusty Mountains Pass|road]] exists and is maintained with difficulty.

Besides being divided into the Eastern and Western regions, the Dusts could also be divided into abyssal, lowland, upland and mountain regions, by elevation. The lowlands and abyss were covered by ocean before the Catastrophe.
