The economy is based on trade (45%), light industry mainly in support of agriculture (25%), services (20%), and agriculture (10%) predominantly of herbs and vegetables. The Edge is governed by a democratically elected mayor, currently Parchment Scroll. The Edge was briefly part of the [[Confederation of Cities]] but withdrew after a disagreement over funding for a failed semaphore telegraphy project.
