An expansive sprawl of forest that has overgrown much of the eastern foothills and lowland plains of the Northern and Central Yore Mountains. Most ponies instinctively shy away from its wooded depths, with the most commonly cited reason being that “it just seems creepy.”
Despite the name and occasional rumors of strange sightings, the forest is not generally considered to be preternatural or uncanny, and indeed a few brave ponies actually live deep inside it and report it to be entirely mundane and mostly devoid of dangerous magical creatures – though some biologists point out the caveat that this hardy, self-selecting group may have a more stringent definition of ‘dangerous’ than many other ponies.
