GABA antagonist - Symptoms of picrotoxin poisoning include coughing, difficulty breathing, headache, dizziness, confusion, gastro-intestinal distress, nausea or vomiting, and changes in heart rate and blood pressure. Although especially dangerous if swallowed, systemic effects can also result from inhalation or absorption into the blood stream through lesions in the skin.[15] Picrotoxin also acts as a convulsant. In larger doses, it has been found to induce clonic seizures or cardiac dysrhythmias, with especially high doses ultimately proving fatal, typically due to respiratory paralysis

Eldritch Lore (the Elder) and Cryptic Lore were both daughters of Arcane Lore and Elixir Vitae - fraternal twins, in fact. So two of Eldritch Lore (the Loremaster)'s great grandmothers were siblings. Her maternal grandmother, Paper Tape, and her paternal grandmother, Mythic Lore, were cousins. Parchment Tape and Forbidden Lore were, then, second cousins. (3.13% coefficient of relationship.)

Lived 30 Heat 590 - 704 AE (as unicorn), 704-2070s AE (in gut of En-Netsusep), 2070s-3319 (as spirit "Dusty Tomes"), 2 Heat 3319 - Present (as soul graft in alicorn). (Aged, 2746.)

EL was a high-functioning psychopath for the duration of her first mortal career. (As alluded to in the forensic psychiatrist comment in her article.) When she was eaten by En-Netsusep and other members of the Dread Pantheon, her psyche was severed into a number of pieces, the largest one, containing much of her mental faculties and conscious mind, ending up in the gut of En-Netsusep. Her soul was indigestible to him despite her lack of moral fiber, and, being incomplete, was unable to proceed to the pony afterlife. When En-Netsusep was killed by the EoH, EL's spirit remained there until discovered by an ambitious young mage, Silver Sun, in 2498. EL tempted Silver with promises of wealth and power, successfully, and gave her knowledge of dark magic and necromancy in return. EL manipulated Silver into kidnapping ponies and started an alicorn breeding program in the Northeast on Teardrop Island.

Silver became a lich in 2601, having failed more conventional MLE. However, she eventually became lonely and depressed, embracing oblivion in 3137 without notice to EL. EL attracted replacements to Teardrop island with telepathy, and making them fight each other to become her apprentice. A young mage, Risen Bones, emerged victorious, becoming EL's "dragon." At this point, note, EL just wanted to be a goddess/alicorn and kill the Dread Pantheon to get her soul bits back, but because incarnation and psychic surgery are risky, did not want to incarnate into lesser ponies and was holding out for alicorn. During this time, she conducted extensive research into magical technology, and most especially fruitcarts.

Risen Bones became a lich in 3201. He took his own apprentice, White Eyes (b. 3276, now 60), in 3296, from descendants of breeding program members in Oatwheel who had survived a setback in which many of the BP members died of disease. In 3319, after a previous failed attempt, White Eyes sired an alicorn foal, and Risen Bones replaced parts of its soul with EL, effectively incarnating her. Crucially, however, parts of the infant's soul replaced the missing parts of ELs (i.e. the parts still in the dread dimensions, inside DP members), and these parts included those allowing her to feel empathy and guilt.

Overwhelmed by the feelings of guilt, EL contemplated suicide before deciding that the only way to redeem herself was to save the world of ponies, including destroying the DP. (Note the self-centered reasoning and how her original goal of revenge is seamlessly incorporated.) EL struggles with her new ability to feel guilt

[REDACTED], EL [REDACTED] is an anti-villain whose goals, if not motives or methods, are laudable.

Because EL believes that only saving the world can redeem her (liberate her from her feelings of guilt), she will be resistant to the suggestion that [REDACTED] are the ones to do this [REDACTED] she is likely to admit she was wrong (especially as they will have thus proven that they are dangerous enough to succeed, in her mind.)

Eldritch Lore and Cold Spell on Teardrop Island

CS will find herself on a rugged tropical island, warm, humid, lush and overcast. A ragged volcanic mountain looms in the fog. Ancient metal structure, overgrown with plants. It appears rusted in strange fractal patterns, which you recognize as the effect of anti-corrosion enchantments slowly failing. There is a large clearing of the forest, containing several buildings. There is a stone fortress. At the edge of a cliff, with some metal hardware embedded in the rock. A sign in old lettering reads: "Royal Equestrian Oneiric Fleet, Weeping Mountain Coaling Station."

Big metal sphere project. EL is welding with her horn, making her spaceship.

Ponies won't want to talk to strangers. Will direct CS to "the Librarian," who is likely to notice the disturbance in the magiciferous aether anyway.

EL will question CS why she has come, and so forth. Will ask about Eldritch Lore if it comes up, warning that "hers was not a path to follow." Inquire why and how CS got here - suggest the books in the library. Quest to prove worth and responsibility -- will ask about friends. "Look after the place while the master is away."

In combat: EL has made a conscious effort to master the use of pegasus and earth pony magic in combat. She also has a sword, Spelltaker, which absorbs magical effects. (It cannot be deflected by TK.) This sword was taken from a gryphon hero long ago, and burried in the Mausoleum of Sun Sparkle. Spelltaker draws in magical effects targeted on its wielder or itself. It cannot be wielded with telekinesis. Being struck with Spelltaker causes magical power to be drained.
