SB snuck into one of the helix's labs where the squamous horrors were being summoned, and caught EL in the act of summoning one, taking magical readings with a detector crystal array. She stashed the detector in the inn (The Book and Tree), sent d-mail, but the local dragon was in EL's pocket and copied EL on the encoded message. EL past-scryed the sending of the message, identified SB, and then had the Helical Janitors capture her. (SB went back to look for a smoking gun to provide more than circumstantial evidence against EL.)

"An interesting cipher, I've not broken it yet."

EL has trapped SB in the Spire, and has been brain-reading her and planning some psychic experiments to have have an infiltrator.
