When the bucket reaches the lowest extent of its travel, it comes to rest on a platform with a drain and protruding posts. The bucket has a double bottom, each bottom containing offset holes. The posts match the some of the holes on the lower bottom of the bucket. When the bucket comes to rest on the platform, the upper and lower bottom are separated by the protruding posts, allowing water to flow through the holes in the upper bottom, the offset holes in the lower bottom, and down the drain on the platform. The Temple of the Sun is a religious structure of the Old Religion located in New Canterlot. It is notable for doors that rise under solar power (parabolic solar collectors boil water in counterweights that hold down the doors; the weights are then refilled from lake water to close them - nothing is very tight. Steam is crudely directed into the lake to hide it.)
The temple is built of marble and scavenged pre-catastrophic building materials, including steel. It is an elaboration of a pre-catastrophic municipal building.
