<> Galesong is a Docktown-based weatherpony specializing in ship escort and wild weather handling. === Early Life === Galesong's mother is Diamond Knot (green pegasus, yellow mane and tail), her father Tool Twine (pink pegasus, cyan mane and tail), and her younger sister Waterfly Burn (pink pegasus, green mane and tail). Her parents both live in Docktown, though her father is often away for work; her and her sister's permanent residences are still with their parents, but Waterfly is currently living away from the city for educational reasons. Diamond Knot and Tool Twine were both sailors who met on the job, struck up a friendship, and found that deepening. When Galesong was born, Diamond took a shoreside position in Docktown, her native city and one of the office sites of the shipping company they worked for, to have a safer and more stable environment to raise a foal (in accordance with both her own desires and her employer's requirements). Galesong's early childhood was not particularly eventful, though her strong pegasus magic was noticed and encouraged early on and she was also given tutoring in alchemy and ritual magic through a local aid organization. As she got older, her mother started to take her out sailing, and when she was old enough that the company would allow it, her father happily took her along on some of his voyages. It was on one of these, when the ship was caught in an exceptionally bad freak storm, that she received her cutie mark (and much warm feeling from the crew, for her role in helping save the ship, and relief from her father, that having to send an unmarked quarter-trained filly into a storm that bad ended happily). Galesong did acceptably in school and in her tutoring, but she much preferred flight and practical pegasus magic. She forewent higher education and instead, after some deliberation (and a small but extant bidding contest between several different weather-and-flight-related employers), took a position with Docktown Port Authority Weather. === Career === She generally enjoys her job, in which she can sometimes be sent farther out with ships or to hit wild storms but mostly stays in the local Docktown area (though "local" to a pegasus with her flight abilities is significantly larger than it would be for many other ponies). The latter lets her stay close to her mother, and her sister and father when they're in town, and everything Docktown has to offer, and the volume and diversity of traffic and size of the area administered means that there's a fairly good amount of variety in the work. The pay and benefits are both good, and she's been promoted several times. There's only so far she can go with practical work, though, the higher levels of her division of DPAW involving less flying and more paperwork and meetings. There's also only so much variety and excitement available in the practical work. She's started to consider looking for a different position, perhaps on a ship with her father, or in another city in Harmonia or abroad, but is still torn and unsure and hasn't moved on that yet; DPAW would also prefer not to lose her. The expedition she's been invited to join, and which she's cleared with her employer, offers an exciting change of pace and the promise of new experiences in probably faraway places, and might help her figure out what she wants to do next with her life. === Personal and Family Life === Galesong has no special somepony at the moment but has a good relationship with her birth family, even if it's a somewhat distant one with her father and, lately, sister. === Skills === Galesong is a highly magical pegasus and strong flyer; she's skilled in pegasus magic, with her cutie mark giving her an additional edge concerning severe weather. She also has training in alchemy and ritual magic, though she's rusty with the latter due to lack of use. Her alchemy skill is more practiced but only for relatively simple things such as basic healing and enhancement/enchantment potions; she has some knowledge of the underlying principles and could potentially learn new recipes if taught, or prepare them from written instructions, but it would take significant additional studying before she'd be able to really branch out into acquiring or devising new alchemical processes on her own. Her family background and job have also given her a good knowledge of sailing, but her skill at performing the shipside aspects of it is, while better than that of the average pony, below that of the average sailor; she's more accustomed to coordinating with other ponies doing those jobs while she handles the environment around the vessel. By the same token, she knows how to work in weather teams of various sizes in both leading and subordinate roles, as well as working with weather on her own, though she is as of yet less skilled at leading larger teams.
