Ponies and other creatures in the [[Dusts]] live under a variety of governments, most strongly local in scope. The rule of formal law is strongest in towns and cities; in the upland countryside, nearby towns may exert some degree of influence and sporadically provide for law enforcement and defense outside their immediate proximity. In the non-urban lowlands, there is no law but the ancient customs of the nomadic tribes who survive there.

Democracy and [[Feudalism|feudalism]] are common forms of government. Most of the larger towns are democratic. The countryside has more feudal governments.
