Horseshoe Lake is a large lake near the West Peninsula of Yore. Although referred to in the Harmonic Era as being a new body of water, this not accurate, strictly speaking; it existed before the catastrophe but was largely forgotten as the lake evaporated and its bed sat dry in the droughts of the later parts of the Dark Age. It has refilled with freshwater after the return of regular rains to Yore. Prodigious amounts of peat mosses grow in the wet environment around its margins, and floating bog islands sometimes break off to drift around the lake. It surrounds the ruins of Calkin on three sides.
