MV (Magister Veneficiorum, potion-master) is an academic degree for alchemists. In modern times on the Isle of Yore, it is considered a professional degree and is granted by the great universities in the Hayminnow Islands and Docktown, besides independent Colleges of Alchemy in New Equestria, Sparkle City and Agister. It was formerly granted by the Crooked Tower, but the program was discontinued.
The degree is quite ancient and dates back to no later than the fifth century AE. Historically, the degree was more theoretically oriented than at present.
