The Oriental Grand Duchy was a historical feudal domain and later an administrative division of the constitutional monarchy known as the Kingdom of Ponyland. The incumbent grand duchess and her family died in the Catastrophe and what became of any legitimate claimants to the title is not known. In any case, it was by that time only a ceremonial position. Occasional pretenders have appeared in recent centuries, to no great effect.
