The Airship Liberty is a large rigid-hulled hydrogen-filled airship with two interior decks and a viewing gondola which also contains the control room. Propulsion is by blaugas engines. It is about 320m long. It is owned by the International Celenz Airship Company. (Celenz was one of the Combine powers, and this company was formed by foreign investors to save the Celenz airship industry and pivot it to civilian use.) The 52-year-old duke of Duke of Leutoria, Pastorius Calendi Leutor, "PC" to his friends, is a rich noble from Calenz whose shady financial practices and numbered bank accounts weathered the War. Having bought tremendous amounts of real estate after the War at fire-sale prices and made a second fortune rebuilding, he is visiting Simha on a shopping trip with his family (wife Lusa, son Pastorius Jr, daughter Campani, all Hamsters), bodyguard Rolf (Gray Squirrel), and assistant Gertie (Mouse). The Duke is suspected of embezzling some of the reconstruction funds, including some that were provided by the Simha Mutual Insurance Company to build an apartment complex in Leutoria which collapsed during construction due to shoddy foundation materials. The SMIC has hired RIS to serve a Simhalan search warrant, issued by a local magistrate, on the duke for his private business papers, and photostat them for the court. The RIS learned of the Duke's travel plans from one of Mick's old friends from back during the war who keeps up with the social section. (The anarchists learned in the same way.) The RIS goes to meet the airship at the mooring mast at the airport. (They might pass the demolished aerodyne club.) They will be let aboard to serve the warrant before passengers disembark. While they are doing that, a raiding party of anarchists will force their way aboard, hijack the airship, and assassinate the duke. They intend to demand a ransom from the ICAC in specie for the release of the passengers and airship before parachuting in a remote area. The ransom will be paid (hooked off the ground with a rope and hauled up) but weather will force delays so the party can try recapturing the airship or not. Otherwise, running out of fuel is a problem -- the ship is likely to crash if it runs out of fuel waiting for good weather, but the anarchists don't care that much b/c they have parachutes and unless the weather is actively getting worse, they don't have much incentive not to wait for better weather. Captain (Theo) Katz, a cat, and crew. Officers Mr. Wetzl, XO, (hamster), Mr. Gore, engineer (cat), Mr. Spees, navigator (raccoon).
