Little is publicly known about the mysterious Tower of Chimes in the Eastern Dusts. It is believed to be inhabited by a religious order who abstain from contact with outsiders. The tower itself is an imposing stone structure inside a crenelated wall. The Trenchtown Aeropony service stops at the Tower of Chimes, but travelers to it are usually destined to villages in the countryside nearby rather than to the Tower itself. The Tower is off limits to the general public and is not known to have any special relationship to Trenchtown, which it predates by many centuries; its use as an airship mooring is thought to be purely a business matter between its secretive inhabitants and Aeropony. Every day, at seemingly random times, the Tower of Chimes produces music, which can be heard for many miles around the countryside.
The tower is located near a guelta that is seasonally expanded by spring meltwater from snow in the Dusty Mountains in years where there has been significant snowfall. The guelta, fed by the same aquifer as Springvale’s titular springs, is economically significant to the surrounding villages.

The Tower of Chimes itself still exists, along with many of the historic structures around it, but is now located near the center of New Trenchtown, which was built around it. The Tower no longer serves as the city's Aeropony mooring station, that job having been taken by a newer purpose-built structure.
