"Marzeetan," Unicorn Scout from Sabesebe (Unicornic, Horde / Montanic)

Properly Mah⁰ze⁴¹dan¹³ in his native Occidental Unicornic, he is known by the Montanic equivalent Marzeetan in his adopted hometown of Sabesebe, in the Mountains of the Twilight. Mah⁰ze⁴¹dan¹³ was a scout in Šezeqan's shadhavar horde in the early days of the war with the Usirenic Empire. Already struggling with the emotional toll of the violence he was witnessing, while scouting in Sabesebe, he met a unicorn priestess, Me^2'-1je²¹qi¹³, there. She persuaded him to give a report about Sabesebe which disguised the true size of the settlement from the Horde, making it appear to fall within the limits Šezeqan would be willing to spare from destruction, which he did. Afterward, Mah⁰ze⁴¹dan¹³ defected and married Me^2'-1je²¹qi¹³. Since coming under the rule of the horde, Sabesebe has continued to exist peacefully, far from the war, but he has lingering worries that someday his deception may be discovered, with grave consequences for himself and his new community. Expecting to soon become a father has heightened these concerns, but his wife is the hereditary priestess of the town goddess, making the idea of moving away unthinkable for her.

Meseqii, Unicorn Priestess from Sabesebe (Montanic)

Meseqii is the hereditary priestess of the town goddess of Sabesebe, Sabesemir. Meseqii's Unicornic name is Me^2'-1je²¹qi¹³, and while she speaks both Occidental Unicornic and Montanic fluently, but her working language is mostly Montanic. Meseqii cares for the shrine and image of Sabesemir, performing animal sacrifices, instructing her apprentice, overseeing the temple trust properties in Sabesebe, and, of course, discussing the spiritual and personal concerns of townspeople. She also has a human scribe and amulet-maker, who sometimes serves as a ritual assistant. She is currently pregnant with her first foal, fathered by her husband Mah⁰ze⁴¹dan¹³, who was a defector from the horde of Šezeqan. Although unicorns and humans have long lived side-by-side in Sabesebe, as with many Montanic settlements, lately there have been rising tension between the human plurality and the unicorns, with Meseqii's highly visible position in the town, and her new shadhavar husband, exposing her to this more than most. Nonetheless, she remains highly attached to her community, and unless it were destroyed, is likely to remain there.
