The Manifold, an aggressively expansionist shadhavar Empire that threatens your confederation of mostly-democratic states in the Upper Reaches, are doing magical experiments on captured unicorns. The confederation's scouts have located a forward operating base where unicorns captured by the Manifold are all being processed; most of them are then relocated to new lands in the Manifold's home islands and settled as subjects, but some of them never make it out. The Confederal Defense Force will make a daring raid on the facility in an attempt to rescue the prisoners; your party is charged with gathering intelligence and identifying any equipment of exceptional value that should be captured, as there is no hope of holding the base against the Manifold's reinforcements.

General setting information here, part of the larger PRPG continuity albeit largely unconnected to the events of the main campaigns.

This session is an indirect sequel to The One Where the Party Abducted a Crystallomancer.

Pregens:

You are a team of volunteers from the Confederal Defense Force. The objective of the overall raid is to suppress the defenses of the enemy base long enough for the Confederation's airships to make a landing, evacuate the prisoners, and escape before enemy reinforcements arrive. Secondary objectives including damaging as much enemy infrastructure as possible and figuring out what the enemy was doing at the base. Within the context of this larger mission, your team is going to be dropped off near what scouts think is some kind of small research or technical facility in order to gather intelligence and identify anything that might be useful to seize.

The area around the facility will be secured and held by an NPC squad assigned to this purpose, your team will be responsible for entering and taking the facility.

Lt. Open Source, of the military intelligence division of the Confederal Defense Force, is an experienced field operative and a natural choice for this mission. He is a unicorn himself, and for a Void-dwelling unicorn, he is fairly magical, being capable of lifting a pony with his telekinesis.

Sgt. Wiffle Cut is a career member of the Confederal Defense Force. She is a pegasus mare from a military family. She is a skilled fighter with wingblades.

Spc. Flash Shadow, an earth pony mare who is a linguist and translator. She speaks and reads Imperial Shadhavar. She was a schoolteacher before the war.

Spc. Silver Storm, a pegasus mare, is a skilled melee and close-quarters fighter and noted very sneaky pony who uses her limited weather magic to augment her stealth.

Spc. Thunder Wing, a pegasus stallion, a combat medic. He was an air-ambulance operator prior to the outbreak of war.

Spc. Dark Flash, an earth pony mare, explosives and combat engineering specialist. She is a farm pony who enlisted when the Manifold invaded.

Spc. Amethyst Spice, a unicorn mare, communications and enchantment specialist. She grew up in her parents' radio shop in the Confederal capital and memorized the Sparklegap Equations instead of nursery rhymes.
