A type of little pony with butterfly-like wings. Flourished in the Classical Period. Thought to be extinct since the 14th century AE, as a result of an event in the 11th century AE which caused a diaspora of flutterponies out of Flutter Valley and into mixed communities with other pony types. There are still numerous distant descendants of flutterponies, but many generations of outbreeding and genetic dilution has caused them to disappear as a pony phenotype with no chance of ever returning naturally.
Certain complex and usually difficult spells (such as one used by Twilight Sparkle on Rarity at one point) can, however, still sometimes temporarily reproduce flutterpony wings on non-flutterponies.
