The constant need to safeguard one's self from magic abuse and exploitation has spurred the development of technology and artefacts designed to weaken and block the magic from spellcasters. While they insist the magic pollution has no significant detrimental effect on the spells cast by unicorns and other creatures of magical ability, it has been proven to affect the effectiveness of some magic. Studies into the effects of magic pollution started a movement demanding that industries take greater care to avoid magic pollution and make consumer products safer, with less risk of inhibition bleed. Only a few companies have taken steps to do so, and they are widely criticized as ineffective.
