The Wizard-Princes were leaders of magicocratic states, most of whom lived in the early Dark Age, having survived the Catastrophe and extended their lives by means of their art. The states they founded were often protected by magical cloisters, and the inhabitants thereof were said to have enjoyed living conditions similar to the Golden Age. However, given the limitations of their power, they were often forced to turn a blind eye to the suffering of ponies outside the cloister. None of the cloisters are known to have survived the deaths of their creators; the last to fall was that of New Canterlot, created by Bluestar the Brilliant.
