Geology
- While Orycto does have most of the familiar elements and minerals one knows from earth their proportions and layout are not the same. The hollow structure results in a somewhat sandwhiched structure to the planetary layers. However the layers only procede to the level of the Upper Mantel and the molten core is replaced with a large amount of magically resonant minerals that produce the unique gravitational field of the planet as part of a complex reaction to the large magical "Sun" inside of the planet. As a result of being absent of both the conventional fluid layers and crushing gravity the entirety of the planetary layers are, at least in theory, navigable by cave and tunnel passages. This is largely considered theoretical as the high magical fields provide extensive mutation and attract large amounts of dangerous life forms that make such travel all but impossible.
As was stated there are a number of unique minerals and elements found in Orycto. The additional elements are Prattchene, Harrine, and Salvat. In addition to their raw forms these elements form a number of unique crystaline structures and alloys. The most common additional minerals (Composition and most common name in parens) from this are Iron-Prattchene (Predine), Iron-Prattchene-Carbon (Statchene), Copper-Salvat (Sanze), and Gold-Harrine (Grine). The most important crystals are Harrine-Carbon (Kinmold or Gintergust), Pattchene-Aluminom-Oxygen (Brilst, Gremst, or Jolders),Berylium-Salvat-Carbon-Oxygen (Scatters). All of these have unique and valuable magical properties as well as in several cases an aesthetic appeal that, in addition to some advanced (and in many cases) biomineralization, causes them to be the primary target of any mining endeavors instead of more traditional ores.
Pattchene, Nonmetallic, Light element. Appears most commonly as a fine, powder, with a purplish-green color. Most notable property is that it actively generates a small nuetral magical field.
Harrine, Metallic, Light element. Appears most commonly in a ductile dark blue-green ore in veins within regions having high coal deposits. Most notable property is that it produces a magical resonant effect, adopting and redirecting/amplifying a magical field upon exposure.
Salvat, Metallic, Heavy element. Appears most commonly as a dark red-black ore in veins with regions having high uranium deposits. Most notable property is that is actively absorbs magical fields, resulting in a field of "null magic" around the material.
