Discolor (whose real name is apparently Farrisia) is a wandering [[pegasus]] (actually a bat pony with an ancient bat pony disguise talisman) pony living in the [[Dusts]]. Her coat is dark brown, her mane and tail dark gray, and her eyes green.
Line 5: Line 17:
Discolor rarely stays in one place long enough to become well-known; it's uncertain both how long she's been wandering and why she started. She generally moves from place to place finding odd jobs in exchange for room and board; her skill at healing is usually welcome, and, if that fails, she's an extra pair of hooves willing to work for cheap. She has of course been faced with the suspicions of thievery common to those in her "profession", but she's never been actually caught. She's also not known to get drunk and make trouble, or to try to horn in on the business of the local prostitutes; as vagabonds go, in other words, she's pretty respectable. Her general strangeness and quietness, in fact, have led a few ponies in her wake to speculate that she might be on the run from something... but not very loudly, since she seems nice enough. <Emerald> Hmmm. She was promised the same treatment as other prisoners, too, though.
<Bryce-GM> L: Hm.
<Flint> Well... I guess that magical life extension for prisoners will have to be the definition of humane?
<Emerald> ...Maybe that's a future-Libby problem. I think Baleful and her issues have been distasteful enough for one day."
"Discolor> I don't think this is that different from not having capital punishment, or not denying prisoners medical care. Different enough that it _could_ be considered separate, but not so different that it has to be.
<Bryce-GM> L: Future Libby has a lot of problems.
<Flint> It doesn't need to be an exception."
"<Flint> It could always just be a particular amount of magical life extension.
<Flint> I don't think I remember any promise of immortality...
<Emerald> ...Has Baleful ever even validated to anyone that she *can* cast life extension?
<Discolor> And life in prison instead of execution is based on the idea that the time in prison will do some good or other, so more time would give more of an opportunity for that."
"Bryce-GM> L: I don't know. It's likely she can, it's easy at first."
"<Emerald> I know it's likely she can."
"Bryce-GM> You arrive in the dining hall.
<Discolor> It's more time for an innocent pony to be found innocent, more time for a pony who might at least internally reform to do so, and more time for someone who's serving a long but not life sentence to get out before they die."

Background

Discolor rarely stays in one place long enough to become well known; it's uncertain both how long she's been wandering and why she started. She generally moves from place to place finding odd jobs in exchange for room and board; her skill at healing is usually welcome, and, if that fails, she's an extra pair of hooves willing to work for cheap.

Skills

Discolor is a fairly strong flier and has both wilderness survival and some medical knowledge. She is notably not good at bargaining and regularly gets taken advantage of in the negotiation of payment for her work.

(She also, though she doesn't know it, has a chance mutation that provides her with a new mechanism for resisting the disease process of mesothelioma. (Out-of-universe, this was gained (retroactively) by rolling a critical success on a resist disease check.))
