LOGS OF CALKIN, MAINTAINED BY ORDER OF IRON HORN
The surveyers returned today. Their measurements show that the strange crystals are growing across the land faster than before. The mountains in the east are overgrown. Patches are springing up to the west as well, in the driest parts. Lord Iron Horn's mages continue to search for a way to combat their advance. They suspect that the moisture of the lake keeps them at bay. The surveyers in the west returned with tales of treasures held by the Solarites in the Abbey of Sunshine. They are said to hold the power of the sun. Outsiders are forbidden from the reliquaries, but Lord Iron Horn was eager for this news nonetheless. Clever Cudgel has been delegated to lead a force to the Abbey of Sunshine. Lord Iron Horn has ordered that she bring the riches of the Abbey to Calkin. Clever Cudgel and the remnants of her force returned to Calkin. They have failed to retrieve the treasures of Sunshine, and lost the gear they were sent with. Lord Iron Horn has consequently decreed them sentenced to death. Dusty Belle claimed herself to be pregnant with Lord Iron's foal, but it was found by one of Lord Iron's unicorns to be a lie. The prisoners have escaped. Dusty Belle betrayed them to us. Lord Iron Horn has departed personally to retrieve them and carry out his sentencing. Lord Iron Horn's mare Hematite sided with the escaped prisoners and turned on him. Lord Iron is badly injured. His recovery is <word scratched out> certain, however. Hematite and the prisoners have fled to parts unknown, moving southeast when last seen. They have passed beyond the witch's sight. Lord Iron's counselors have decided preserve Lord Iron's forces in place at Calkin instead of committing to pursue them. Dusty Belle's fate is undecided. She is being held while we await Lord Iron's recovery.
