Background
Assembled shortly before the invasion, Charity is technically pre-war, but generally counted among the 1st generation dolls. She was designed to be an aesthetically pleasing domestic companion for unmarried, unsalaried, socially introverted humans. Hence the derisive moniker of 'hikikomori doll' for her line. Expected to perform housekeeping, offer romantic engagement, repair domestic appliances and utilities, and provide emergency medical care to an owner lacking those skills, she would have been content doing just that. Until the invaders came.
Fearing for their life, her owner spent his savings hiring a mod technician to upgrade Charity to act as a bodyguard. Giving her a 'missile rack', high-pressure petrol sprayer with pilot light, and pnuematic wrist launcher. Sadly, they would never see these 'cool' upgrades in action.
Following a bombardment, Charity's master would die of radiation poisoning, despite her best efforts to save them. Lost and abandoned, she would have died from neurological decay had she not come across New Sanctuary. Taking pity on her, she was allowed to settle within the town, where she mostly carries out cleaning work. She also acts like a nurse to other dolls and the occasional biological creature.
Personality
Charity was programmed to be the perfect 'waifu' for a human owner, and is deferential and subservient. She remains cheerful and optimistic, almost oblivious to the dismal state of the world around her. She continues to carry out the tasks she was programmed for with enthusiasm, even if she needs the occasional tweak to ensure she doesn't fixate on obsolete directives, or to redirect her efforts to something that is productive to her fellow dolls.
Having been designed to offer physical intimacy, Charity can be outrageously scandalous with other dolls. Often forcing others to partake in public displays of hand-holding, and even non-consentual hugging. This is tolerated to a degree as it's understood that without humans, this is her only outlet for the redundant programming of her biological interactions.
Appearance
Charity is of a fairly short height compared to the average human female, with large expressive eyes and short, upturned nose. Designed to appear non-threatening and cute. Her fibreglass casing is designed to appear human, with synthetic fibres to resemble blond hair she usually keeps in a ponytail or pigtails. Programmed to look presentable, Charity has put in effort to appear relatively clean and undamaged in the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
A noted quirk is her large collection of pre-war clothing appropriate to a wide variety of jobs and situations. Originally intended by her makers to increase fetish appeal, Charity has come to fixate on these practically superfluous expressions as a 'hobby' to distract from the unfulfilled directives in her programming now that she no longer has human masters to serve.
Abilities
Her last owner's upgrade package provides Charity a number of integrated ballistic weapons for combat. The hidden compartment within her chest holds a mini-missile launcher with a total capacity of six small rockets. An adhesive fuel launcher built into her left arm projects balls of napalm. While the right arm's pressurized air tank lets her launch her fist as a projectile. With an attached cable and winch for recovery after use. All of this did not leave her owner the funds required for the desired martial arts programming, and as such Charity was reprogrammed to learn to use her first aid defibrillator as a stun gun.
Without humans to care for, she has been encouraged to redirect her medical efforts to other dolls and to provide emergency repairs. She is capable enough to keep her fellow dolls functional through serious damage. She has repurposed her hand-integrated defibrillator from resuscitating humans to jump-starting seemingly unrecoverable dolls. She frequently assists at New Sanctuary's repair clinic as a nurse, but still has to defer to other, more learned dolls for advanced rebuilding or modular enhancement operations.
While her ability with mechanical and electrical repair of non-doll devices is only basic, she can fix the occasional broken toaster. And though organic creatures are generally ignored, Charity is able to access her knowledge of human anatomy for mammalian veterinary services.
