An academic institution in Docktown, and the largest precatastrophic institution of higher learning on Equus today. It is one of only two such institutions in the Dusts not dedicated exclusively to professional studies such as magecraft or medicine. (The other is Hayminnow University in Canner City.) The university has a noted library. Its faculty have taken the lead in the organized excavation of old Docktown, and although much renovation and new construction has taken place without their involvement, an excellent museum of precatastrophic artifacts has been developed all the same.
The university’s motto, from reopening in 2101 AE to the present, is Post calamitātēs spērābimus lūcem (After the calamity, we shall hope for light.) The former motto was Ex oriente, lux. (From the east (or, daybreak), light.)
