A species of small humanoid creature named for their propensity to dwell in hollowed-out mushrooms of unusual size. Fungus gnomes are well known for their mastery of most forms of magic and other areas of study, including the arts of the apothecary, alchemist and sage. A fungus gnome who devotes himself to the study of magic will typically tend to an area with lots of fallen wood and a natural tendency to grow mushrooms, and use his powers to cause some of them to become unnaturally large and persist throughout the year. These are hollowed out and used for shelter and workplaces. Other fungus gnomes will be drawn to this obvious demonstration of skill and establish a community. Fungus Gnomes have always been scarce; the Western Dusts has a small Fungus Gnome village northwest of the Edge, called the Daverwood.
