A tray of slimy blue and red things, with donut-shaped tops shaped such that they would go around tendrils snuggly and bottoms shaped to fit in the holes of the knubs. Remind them multiple connections are possible.

Fungal wilderness
You appear in a small spherical room, the walls of which look much like the Deep Mycelium. There is a naked and unidentifiable fungus gnome growing out of the floor in front of you.
There are ten identical fungus gnomes, all naked and undifferentiated. Each has its scalp peeled back to reveal a cluster of fungal hyphae. There is a gnome-shaped slot and a window ahead.
