The Noble House of Lore was a pre-Discordian family of Equestrian nobles who flourished in the Classical and Royal ages. A number of particularly talented wizards, including an ensconced archmage and two Loremasters of the Arcane Helix, were members. During Discord's reign over Equus, the House of Lore collaborated with the Discordian regime. Although they attempted to conceal and minimize their collaboration after the restoration of pony rule, their actions cast a shadow over the family fortunes for generations. The house fell into further disrepute after producing several feared dark wizards, most notably Eldritch Lore (the Loremaster), whose bloody rebellion against the Equestrian state cost thousands of lives. The Noble House of Lore continued, much diminished, until the catastrophe, in which it disappeared along with the vast majority of Equestrian noble houses. The Lore family of New Equestria, of which Peregrine Lore (Archmage of the Crooked Tower, ?? - 3320 AE) was a member, descend from the Noble House of Lore. However, they are not New Equestrian nobility, having been stripped of their hereditary nobility for supporting the unsuccessful rebellion of the Duke of Earthdrop during the reign of King Day Star (3007-3295).
