The Sconce of the Nameless Desert is the smallest archmagical Sconce of the magico-legal system, having only a few dozen permanent residents in its jurisdiction, mostly its own core staff, the Curatrix, her household, and the key staff of the Innominate Curacy. (The population during the workweek numbers several hundred, and the population is sometimes temporarily increased by archaeological fieldwork in the Nameless Desert.)
The archmage of the sconce, generally not being very busy with the routine affairs of such a tiny and placid jurisdiction, customarily serves as procurator of the Innominate Curacy when the Curatrix travels away. Accordingly, he or she is usually kept informed about the situation of the Innominate Curacy, and spends a good part of his or her day attending meetings with the Curatrix.
