Archived GM Notes: This page is unsealed GM-notes pertaining to PRPG2. It is not canonical to PRPG2. It main contain contradictions (even with itself), and preliminary ideas that were merely written down as I thought of them, for later consideration. The absence of something mentioned here from the canon does not necessarily mean that the party "missed" it, it could have been mooted for other reasons or simply discarded by me.

New notes: Keep contents:

Signs of a struggle, which revealed journal and show something heavy fell down the penstock.

hatch on edge, penetrated by two large-diameter (10 cm) hoses (magical waveguides) to the equipment that draws power for the water portal.

The equipment for the shroud power draw: it is only using a small fraction of its capacity to do the portal, since the cloister is down.

Derelict cloister equipment.

Desk, writing chair, comfy chair, small table.

Under the hatch is a catwalk around the perimeter of the intake tower. The magic portal is directly under the hatch. It is suspended by wires and connected to the cables. There is also a level sensor pointed at the water below (in a tube so as not to be disturbed by the white water) at the outer edge of the catwalk.

HEAR A THUMPING NOISE AND A STRANGE CRY (monster discharged from portal)

There is a tangle of strange, translucent bones and decomposing flesh at the bottom. -- Still Waters/ Nox Arcana

Dam / powerhouse Underwater Ruins

Combat: Two Steps / Archangel / 23 Sanctuary is Lost

On the other side of the dam it's quite overgrown, but interrogating the locals will reveal that there is a local spring (a hint can be dropped with bystanders if necessary)

There are naught but a few concrete bits poking up from the ground, although those with local knowledge (kids) here would know the location of a "really straight cliff" that more educated may know is a ruin. There are some air vents at the top of this cliff that can be infiltrated. Alternately, they may find the "cave" in the hill. The cave leaks water, and is actually part of the outlet works. The two turbines are rusted and falling apart, and one can exit through their housings (in similar condition) to the interior of the building, ending up in the powerhouse. Their magical preservation was defective.

There are stairs up to an office and control room in the powerhouse. The control room has better ragnarok proofing, but there is still no electricity. T Another side room of the powerhouse has oil generators. This is the room with vents that is still exposed. The preservation enchantments still work and they can be activated. There is a breaker panel here with tweleve breakers, labeled:

SERVO 1-6, CONTROL ROOM, HOUSE, EXCITER 1, EXCITER 2, PENSTOCK 1-2

Lighting/domestic power (HOUSE) or the exciters, and gates 1, 3, 4 will immediately blow. The other gates 2,5,6, work, and unless the controls in the control room have been adjusted, will promptly open the intake. The remains of the turbines will be obliterated by this, allowing water into the powerhouse. (Much of it will flow out the outlet works of course) This will spill the TE somewhere out into the old riverbed...

There is a FLUME HORROR in the powerhouse near the stairs to the control room. There is a good chance of somepony being exposed to the spores. There is a flume horror here. A giant amphibious anemone-like creature with tentacles and bulbous protrusions. Beware its spores!

Element of Honesty
Location: The LIMINAL KEEP, under the Lake of New Canterlot.
Power when Corrupted: False divination (tending to drive seers to despair)

The element is kept with equipment to facilitate scrying in the dome of the
Liminal Keep, Bluestar’s sanctum sanctorum. Access to the Liminal Keep
requires exploration in New Canterlot, including possibly talking to NPCs,
and figuring out how to access the keep (involving the hidden water level regulating
dam. Bonus points for not draining the Lake.)

Bluestar himself found the Element in the periapocalyptic period and kept it in his
secret fortress. He knew of, and wrote about, its corruption. His journal, explaining
that the element is corrupted, can be found in the Liminal Keep, in his quarters.

After the Element of Honesty was lost by its bearer, it was found by sea ponies and brought to the archmage of the Isle of Yore, Bluestar the Brillant, for safekeeping. Bluestar recognized that the element had been corrupted, and, lacking awareness of the means to purify it, he kept it safe. First in the Lake Tower, and later, in the Lacustrine Keep. The Lacustrine keep is a keep built on top of the intake tower of the dam. Access to it is only by underwater.

Distance of 820 N mass on the lever  = 2.39x10^-2 times depth of lake

The Lacustrine keep regulates the water level of the lake. The magical cloister was permeable to air and water vapor, although not to liquid water, and consequently the lake would have evaporated or leaked out of the cloister field eventually. (When the cloister was active, the lake was dry exterior to the cloister, although moist in immediate proximity to it due to slow leakage of unusually fast-moving water molecules.) It contains a magical portal, remotely controlled by a pressure sensor in the powerhouse. The portal is connected to the abyss, and admits water but not salt, and is powered by the dimensional prison created by the Dread Pantheon, which Bluestar discovered. (He powered the cloister in the same way.)

The dam was outside the cloister. The magic portal stuff is in the old powerhouse, injecting the water into the system (reverse of the direction it used to travel. Opening the valves at the bottom of the turbine will drain the lake into the lake parish.
