The Nemu land is a region in the Western Yonggan lands, characterized by steppe in the South, rolling hills and forests in the West, giving way to mountains in the North. It is the homeland of the Nara clan and remained in their possession until their exile after the Earth Kingdom civil war. Today, the steppe portion of the Nemu land is the territory of Abka nomads, some of the southern forests were cleared for agriculture and given to Central Earth Kingdom colonists, and the rest was divided up between Yonggan groups loyal to the Hao Ting dynasty.
Some important Yonggan ceremonial sites remain in the Nemu Land, and are in active use. The Imperial Hunting Lodge used by the Great Ri is on an area formerly on the border of the Nemu land with the Dukedom of Wei; it is now the Summer palace of the governor, though in practice he nowadays stays in the de jure capital of Yongganguo in Garunggu. From the early Ri dynasty up until the Earth Kingdom Civil War (Qin's Rebellion), the country was administered from the Gainan Palace in the city of the same name. The Ancestral Tombs of the Great Ri are located in the Nemu Land, as well.
The word "nemu" in the Yonggan language means "mineral," and mining remains an important industry today.
Rich with its own indigenous resources and war booty after the Nara-Hao campaigns, an early imperial prince of Jin had a throne built for the Nemuland, called the "Mirror throne." It was a wide mostly-bronze platform in imitation of northern and central-style thrones, prominently featuring highly polished speculum metal roundels and ostrich-horses. (The more obvious badgermole was reserved as a noble motif for the imperial Nara clan as a whole, and it would have been unseemly for a cadet branch of the imperial family to assume its use on a throne.)
